This weekend we were out at our friend’s lease in Llano. It is a beautiful piece of property, and one filled with photo-ops.
As we were returning from one of our walks, we came upon this flagpole with an old wagon wheel. I snapped several pictures, and then noticed something in the background I didn’t like, the garage.
Instead, to the right you see an incredible old shed.
Then a zoom in of the shed.
What about a picture of the shed through the wagon wheel?
Now let’s try blurry wheel and clear shed. Nope, both blurry.
Another try. Almost there, but not enough of the wheel.
I’ve been shooting with a Canon G9 for the past several years, the only decent camera I’ve ever owned. The point and shoot has been good to me, but when my friend handed me her Canon Rebel complete with lenses, I was able to get the shot in seconds (I still need to get a copy from her). I will now be saving for a new camera!
My Nikon D7000 takes good photos, but it’s just too heavy for travel. On a recent trip, we bought a lightweight Nikon P600 with a 60x zoom lens. Check out the YouTube videos about the zoom on this camera. It’s crazy insane. The focal range is 2880mm. My upgraded Tamaron lens on my D7000 doesn’t come close.
Thanks for the feedback. I’ll have to check it out
I agree with Ally, about the weight of DSLRs and lenses.
I have a Canon PowerShot with a 36X digital zoom. It does a good job, without all that weight. If I had that same zoom on my Nikon 5000, it would be very big and heavy, with a very heavy price tag. Maybe it would be sharper, but I’m not trying for professional wildlife photos.
Your photos above look very good. It’s fun to play with photos.
So I may just need to upgrade my G9 and maybe not jump all the way to a DSLR. I do like the lightweight nature of my camera. I’ll check out that one too. Thanks!
